A Local Family Owned Business Since 1985 Passed Down Through Each Generation

Jack-A-Slab Construction is a family owned and operated business established in 1985. Dave Heady Sr. founded the first M ud Jacking company south of the Wisconsin border in Peoria, IL . and named it Slab Jackers Construction . In 1989 Dave Heady Jr. took over the branch in Slab Jackers in Springfield, IL, which his dad started in 1987. After working the Springfield branch for 4 years, Dave Jr. took a 16 year hiatus to do missionary work in Romania. Dave Sr. continued in Peoria until he moved Knoxville, Tennessee in the early 90’s where he started Jack A Slab Construction. Years later he started a new branch in the Chattanooga area where he recently retired at the age of 72. After Dave Jr.’s return from Romania in 2008, he started Jack A Slab Construction. With the help of one of his sons, they started as a team in Decatur. Since then, the company has expanded to serve other areas in Central Illinois as well as adding 5 other team members, a full time estimator, and full time office staff. We now serve Central Illinois in Springfield, Champaign/Urbana, Decatur, and Bloomington/Normal. We also recently acquired the business that Dave Sr. started back in the 1980’s in the Peoria area. As you can see, mudjacking and foundation work are a family trade that is being passed down to each generation.
